Hand Painted Amitabha Thangka

Amitabha Buddha/Öpame abides in a pure heavenly realm created by the power of his infinite merit accumulated over countless lifetimes as a bodhisattva. His light radiates radiantly from this heavenly realm and permeates the entire universe. According to the sutra, when living entities encounter its light, their defilements are removed; when they see his light, they are relieved and delivered from distress. At the end of their lives, beings who believe in Amitabha achieve emancipation as he gives them rebirth in his Pure Land. And as Shakyamuni explains, “Beings born in this Buddha land all live among those who are assured of Nirvana.”
