Luigi Fieni, Kenneth Parker : Tibetan Mustang: A Cultural Renaissance
The Tibetan Mustang is considered the "hidden kingdom" in the Himalayas. In a project that lasted more than 20 years, the holy temple wall paintings were restored and at the same time the Buddhist traditions were brought back to life. The magnificent publication documents with photographs by Luigi Fieni and Kenneth Parker the fascinating project, the landscape of Mustang as well as the spiritual and secular way of life of the local Lobas. The Kingdom of Mustang with its medieval capital Lo Monthang impresses with its sacred temple and artistic wall paintings. In order to counteract the centuries of decay, an elaborate restoration project was launched under the direction of the restorer and photographer Luigi Feini. The special thing: This was carried out after a special training by the local Lobas. The unique initiative led to a cultural renaissance and the continuation of Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
